Shoot tip culture of banana using temporary immersion bioreactors

Technology Details:
An efficient micropropagation technique using temporary immersion bioreactor (TIB) system has been developed. At the end of the 6th subculture, 1496 ± 110 shoots per explant could be obtained in TIB. The multiplication of shoots in TIB is 2.7-fold higher than the semisolid culture method, which is suitable for large-scale production of planting material for commercial applications. Benefits/Utility: Cost effective - High rate of multiplication, no need of gelling agent, media requirement is 2 ml/plantlet. Aa bioreactor vessel can yield minimum of 150-250 plants
